This comes after an ambulance crew was attacked in Winterveld, north of the capital, on Sunday night.

Gauteng health spokesperson Kwara Kekana says the crew was attending to an emergency when they were approached by two armed suspects.

“Any form of attack towards our healthcare workers is unacceptable as it puts their lives and those in need of emergency medical response at great risk. Our healthcare resources are stretched to the limit as we work around the clock to curb the spread of Covid-19.”

The suspects fled with the crew’s belongings.

“We are pleading with members of the community who might have any information relating to the incident to come forward and assist the police in their lives investigation by calling SAPS,” she added.

Nobody was injured during the incident.
