Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) are on high alert following yesterday’s heavy downpours.

The first thunderstorms of summer came with a warning from the South African Weather Service (SAWS) of heavy rain, strong winds and possible flash floods over parts of Gauteng.
City of Johannesburg EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi has urged residents to remain vigilant today.
"No major incidents were reported overnight and this morning (Wednesday) in most parts of the City of Johannesburg.
"Due to severe thunderstorms, residents in low-lying areas are urged to continue to be safe, avoid crossing river streams when conducting daily activities.
“Motorists are also urged to exercise caution.
"We will remain on high alert and monitor all the city's seven regions for any reports of any incidents which might be reported."
In Tshwane, no incidents have been reported as of Wednesday morning.
