'Eskom board a disgrace'
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) has described Eskom board members as a disgrace to government and the power utility.
NUM's comments follow Ben Ngubane's resignation as Eskom board Chairperson yesterday.
Eskom board spokesperson Khulani Qoma cited personal reasons for Ngubane's resignation.
NUM spokesperson Livhuwani Mammburu says the union welcomes Ngubane's resignation and has called for the immediate resignation of all other remaining board members.
"They are a disgrace to both Eskom and government. We need men and women with integrity who will also care about the well-being of employees," Mammburu says.
Ngubane, who is no stranger to controversy has not only been implicated in so-called Gupta leaks, but also presided over Brian Molefe's rehire.
Minister of public enterprises Lynne Brown has appointed Zethembe Khoza as interim board chairperson.
