Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Parts of Vosloorus in Ekurhuleni have been plunged into darkness after Eskom decided to suspend power supply to the area.
“Electricity operations in Vosloorus extension 28 have been suspended after the community denied Eskom access to the area to conduct its work,” read a statement released on Tuesday.
The embattled state-owned power utility says illegal connections are rife in Vosloorus.

Eskom says it cannot continue to maintain and replace failed infrastructure due to overloading caused by illegal connections to residents who are not paying their utility bills.

The cash-strapped SOE says it will only restore power supply once officials are allowed access into the area.
