Eskom's divisional executive for security Tebogo Rakau has resigned from the power utility with immediate effect.

Rakau resigned on Tuesday morning.
"At this stage we are not in any position to state the reasons for his resignation, his resignation was accepted by the CEO of Eskom,” said the power utility’s spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe.
His resignation comes amid reports that he faced an internal investigation.
But Phasiwe said Rakau had been instrumental in the arrests of suspects in connection with cable theft.

"Most of the recent arrests that we have seen where people were stealing our cables came from the work that the General (Rakua) was doing along with his team.”
Eskom is yet to confirm Rakau’s successor.
"At this stage the management has not chosen an acting person, but I am sure that the other people who are in the same division will step in so that we can continue doing the good work we have been doing,” Phasiwe added.
