Eskom pushes load shedding to stage 6 'until further notice'
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Eskom announced on Tuesday evening that load shedding will be kept at stage 6 until further notice.
The embattled power utility previously planned to alternative between stages 5 and 6 six for the remainder of the week.
It has blamed a delay in returning to service a generating unit each at Kendal, Matla, and Matimba power stations.
Spokesperson Daphne Mokwena says failure to return more units to service necessitated the continuous implementation of stage 6 load shedding.
Eskom has been failing to return more units online despite Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa's promise that two units at the embattled Tutuka Power Station in Mpumalanga will be back online in September.
Breakdowns were 16 784MW of generating capacity on Tuesday evening, while the capacity out of service for planned maintenance was 4 987MW.
