South Africans can expect to spend another night in the dark on Wednesday when Eskom implements load shedding for a second day.

Load shedding will kick in at 10pm and run until 5am.

Eskom spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha says the power utility’s latest bout of load shedding is necessary to preserve emergency generation reserves in preparation for higher demand expected in January

“During this period Eskom will continue to pursue increased reliability maintenance as planned and previously communicated,” Mantshantsha says.
