Eskom: Stage 3 & 5 load shedding throughout the week
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Eskom says it will implement varying stages of load shedding, up to stage 5, throughout the coming week.
The embattled power utility implemented stages 1, 3 and 4 over the weekend.
Stage 4 load shedding will be implemented from 4pm on Sunday until 5am on Monday.
Eskom crisis communications manager Menzi Mngomezulu says stages 3 and 5 will be implemented daily.
“Thereafter, stage 3 load shedding will be implemented from 5am until 4pm on Monday, followed by stage 5 load shedding from 4pm until 5am on Tuesday.
“This pattern will be repeated daily until further notice. Eskom will publish another update as soon as any significant changes occur.”
Mngomezulu says in the last 24 hours a generation unit at Duvha Power Station was taken out of service due to a breakdown.
“The delay in returning units to service at Arnot, Camden, Kendal, Tutuka and two generating units at Hendrina power stations continue to add to the current capacity constraints.”
