Eskom suspends Sunday afternoon load shedding
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Eskom has suspended the stage 2 load shedding which was scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
The power utility says this is due to much-improved generation capacity and lower weekend demand.
"While we are able to suspend the load shedding at this point, it is important to note that the generation system is still vulnerable to breakdowns and loadshedding may be required," says spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha.
"We therefore urge all South Africans to continue using electricity sparingly, especially during these uncertain times on the power system.
"We currently have 4 116MW on planned maintenance, while another 12 437MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns."
Eskom implemented stage 2 load shedding on Thursday morning, ramping it up to stage 4 on Friday.
