Eskom warns to expect load shedding ‘at short notice’
Updated | By Makhosazane Twala
The power utility said on Tuesday while it doesn’t anticipate any load shedding, rolling blackouts could be re-introduced at short notice.
Eskom spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha says the utility is especially concerned about the evening peak.
“Should there be any significant breakdowns, load shedding may be required at short notice, most likely during the evening peak of 17:00 to 22:00.
“We currently have 2 195MW on planned maintenance, while another 15 950MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns.”
