Eskom warns of stage 2 load shedding ‘at short notice'
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Eskom has warned it might have to implement stage 2 load shedding between 4pm and midnight on Wednesday.
The struggling power utility says the breakdown of generation units at Majuba, Tutuka and Kriel have put a severe strain on the system.
Eskom spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha says stage 2 would have to be implemented should there be any further significant breakdowns.
"The delay in returning two generation units at Arnot, a unit each at Kusile and Hendrina power stations
have exacerbated the electricity generation constraints," says Mantshantsha.
The embattled utility is currently running at 4 479MW on planned maintenance, while another 12 951MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns.
