Eskom: Workers are peacefully returning to work
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Embattled power utility Eskom says its employees are returning to work on Wednesday morning.
An unprotected strike by workers over wage increases has plunged the country into darkness.
The industrial action resulted in stage 6 power cuts.
There may be light at the end of the tunnel after Eskom confirmed that many of its workers, who have down tools, have returned to their posts.
"Eskom can confirm that many of its employees are peacefully returning to work since last night and there are no incidents of any protests that have been reported so far today," says spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha.

Unions and Eskom are set to return to the Central Bargaining Forum on Friday - where the SOE is expected to table a revised wage offer.
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) and the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) have refuted claims that a wage agreement had been clinched.
