The City of eThekwini Municipality has refuted claims that officials stole humanitarian relief meant to be distributed to communities ravaged by last week’s floods.
This after a video was posted on social media in which a donor said she was made aware that city officials were stealing aid meant for communities in need.
In the video the woman can be seen stopping the bakkie – preventing it from driving off with the goods.

During the altercation she claims to have been notified that the officials were attempting to steal the humanitarian aid.
The City of eThekwini says the official in the video is employed in one of its units tasked with delivering donations to local townships.
"It is unfortunate that the employee in question has had her reputation tarnished in this manner," the city said in a statement.
"We call upon the public to desist from creating and spreading fake news."
