'Fake emergency’ sees Limpopo EMS crew robbed at gunpoint

The Department of Health in Limpopo has expressed its shock at the robbery of an emergency medical services crew who responded to what turned out to be a fake emergency in Sekhukhune.
The incident took place on Wednesday.
The department's spokesperson, Neil Shikwambana , says it’s beyond belief that people who are dedicated to saving lives should subjected to such a criminal act.
"According to the preliminary report received, the EMS crew coming from Philadelphia Station in Moutse, was responding to an emergency call that happened to be a bait at Kgobokwane village when they were ambushed and robbed at gunpoint.
"Valuables such as cell phones, jewellery, and cash were taken, and one crew member was even forced to transfer money using her banking app.”
He warned that these type of incidents compromises the ability of emergency services to respond to genuine medical emergencies.
