Family and friends pay tribute Johnny Clegg

Family, friends and fans gathered at the Sandton Convention Centre on Friday for a memorial service to celebrate the life of music icon Johnny Clegg.
Family, friends and fans gathered at the Sandton Convention Centre on Friday for a memorial service to celebrate the life of music icon Johnny Clegg.
The world renowned died last week following a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
His son Jesse paid tribute to his dad with a song they wrote together.
"In 2017 my dad and I wrote a song together. It’s song about the things in life you can't replace. To my dad that was his family," said Jesse.

Juluka band member and long time friend Sipho Mnchunu thanked Clegg for all that he had done for him.
Speaking in isiZulu, Mnchunu told those gathered that Clegg meant everything to him.

Music fans were also treated to a music extravaganza from artists such as Zolani Mahola from Freshlyground, former band mate Mandisa Dlanga and Jessica Mbangeni.
