Fatal shooting at Fort Klapperkop
A group of armed men attacked security officers at the well known nature reserve and tourist spot in the south of Tshwane.
A group of five armed men attacked two security officers - smashing the vehicle's windows with an object and injuring one of the guards.
"The guards responded by firing shots at the alleged attackers before apprehending one wounded suspect. The second wounded suspect was found lying on the ground and later certified dead at the scene," says police spokesperson, Daniel Mavimbela.
According to Mavimbela, an alleged attacker is recovering under police guard at a local hospital.
He is expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
A manhunt has been launched for the three other men.
“Police officers in both marked and unmarked vehicles will continued to be depoyed until the area is completely safe from criminal elements,” says Mavimbela following a spate of attacks at the tourist attraction spot.
