FFPlus heading to court over lockdown
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The Freedom Front Plus will be filing an urgent High Court application to ask it to declare the national lockdown and its regulations unconstitutional.
This comes after President Cyril Ramaphosa said on Wednesday that most of the country would move to level 3 of the regulations by the end of May, although some hot-spot areas will remain on level 4.

Freedom Front Plus leader Pieter Groenewald claims the government is abusing the National Disaster Management Act.
"The lockdown and the associated regulations have already served their purpose to flatten the curve of the infection rate to allow health care services enough time to prepare for a possible large outbreak of Covid-19.
"The balance of public interest between curbing the spread of the virus and unlocking the economy to prevent the loss of livelihoods and subsequently lives should come into play."
He adds that the lifting the lockdown cannot be postponed any longer.
"The chances that continued restrictions will do a lot more damage to the economy and ordinary citizens' livelihood are much greater than the chances of it limiting the rate of infection any further."
