Filling station vandalised during Zandspruit protest

A filling station has been vandalised opposite Zandspruit, northwest of Johannesburg, following protest action in the area last night.

Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) spokesperson Wayne Minaar says Zandspruit residents took to the streets last night, after illegal structures were removed.
"Residents were throwing rocks and burning tyres", says Minaar.
Parts of Beyers Naude have been closed due to obstructions on the road.
Zandspruit residents descend on police station
"Beyers Naude has been blocked to traffice between Peter Road and Johan Street this morning due to rocks, burning tyres and debris on the roadway", says Minaar.
Motorists have been advised to use Hendrik Potgieter as an alternative.
Police will maintain a presence in the area and are regulating traffic.
