Final chance to comment on anti-smoking laws
Updated | By Heart FM News
South Africans are being encouraged to make their voices heard about proposed changes to the country's anti-smoking laws.
Time is running out, with just two days left including Wednesday, to comment on the matter.
The new, stricter Tobacco Products Amendment Bill wants to see 100 percent smoke-free open spaces and uniform packaging for all cigarette and vaping brands.
Organisations like the National Council against Smoking want everyone to have their say.
The Council's executive director, Savera Kalideen, says contrary to popular opinion, a complete ban on smoking in public will not be detrimental to businesses.
"University of Cape Town has just come out with a study, and they surveyed a number of restaurants. They found that the majority of restaurants in Cape Town are smoke-free," says Kalideen.
