A member of the police was injured and a car also damaged, after a fire gutted through the police barracks outside Thohoyandou in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police officers stationed at the barracks woke up at about 2 am on Saturday morning, with flames already covering the building.
Police spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe says the Fire Brigade and police reacted swiftly, but the whole building went down in flames, with the officers' belongings still inside.
"One of the members was slightly injured, but the others all managed to flee the building on time. A private car belonging to one of the members was also damaged."
Police in Makhado are investigating the fire.
Ngoepe also called on members of the community who might have any information, to inform their nearest police station or phone 10111.
