First part of Zondo inquiry reported handed to Ramaphosa

Four years after the State Capture Inquiry was established, President Cyril Ramaphosa has received the first part of the commission’s report.
The commission, which was established by former President Jacob Zuma following a recommendation by former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela, spent three years collecting evidence and listening to oral testimonies.
The report has three volumes and the first deals with allegations of state capture at South African Airways, as well as New Age allegations and allegations about the South African Revenue Service (SARS).
"As you know, by the end of January we will deliver part 2 of the report. It will deal with a certain number of state-owned entities and topics," said Zondo in handing over the first report.
He said part three will be released at the end of February.
President Cyril Ramaphosa confirmed the report in all its parts will be released to the public following their official handover.
Ramaphosa thanked Zondo and his team for their work.
He said they will immediately begin processing and considering all parts of the report with mechanisms to process the findings and recommendations.
Parliament will receive Ramaphosa’s proposed action, based on the reports, by the end of June 2022.
Ramaphosa said government will wait for all parts of the report before implementing its recommendations.
