The South African Weather Service predicts the first real summer rain to fall on Tuesday when South Africans celebrate Heritage Day.
It is expected to also bring some much-needed relief from the current Spring temperatures that have seen the mercury soaring above 30 degree celsius in some places.
Forecaster Bransby Bulo says the first possibility of rain will be on Monday.
