Fleurs murder: State asks for time to verify bail affidavits

The case against six men charged for the shooting and hijacking of Kaizer Chiefs defender Luke Fleur has been postponed until next week.

The six will be back in the dock on 2 May.
The postponement came after the state asked for time to verify aspects of the bail affidavits submitted by the accused in the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
It emerged in court that accused number six, Thembinkosi Hlomikhawu, has two previous convictions.
“I have two previous convictions: one of housebreaking with the intention to steal and one of theft committed in the year 2015 at Carletonville. I was sentenced to a four-year direct imprisonment.
“The second is housebreaking with the intention to steal and theft, committed in the year 2017, and I was sentenced to two years imprisonment in the Roodepoort Court," read his lawyer Moshibudi Molefi from his bail affidavit.
Ndumiso Mswane, Fernando Sive, Nhlakanipho Dlamini, Franky Xaba, Maredi Mphahlele, and Hlomikhawu were arrested in Slovoville days after Fleurs was shot and robbed of his vehicle at a Honeydew filling station.
Fleurs' vehicle was also recovered during the arrest but had already been stripped.
All of the accused, through their Legal Aid lawyers, have pleaded with court to set bail at an affordable amount should it be granted.
They said they could afford an amount of R1,000.
