Flooding expected in Limpopo, Mpumalanga

The South African Weather Service has warned of possible flooding in Limpopo and Mpumalanga throughout the week.

This comes after heavy rains led to flash flooding in several areas in Gauteng over the course of the weekend.

Forecaster William Msimanga says severe thunderstorms are expected in both provinces from Sunday afternoon.
“We do expect widespread showers to develop during the course of this afternoon, we are expecting cloudy conditions to dominate.
“There is a warning that has been issued later on, in terms of possible flooding in most of the areas in Limpopo, particularly in the eastern parts of Limpopo, as well as the eastern parts of Mpumalanga province.”
He adds that localised flooding is a possibility until Monday evening.
“Those conditions that will be associated with flooding for Limpopo and Mpumalanga is expected to persist throughout the night, the course of tomorrow up until tomorrow evening.”
