Tshwane Emergency Services says several low-water bridges have been flooded near the Jukskei River in Centurion.

"Most of the low-water bridges in that area are closed. Please use alternative routes. Do not try to cross low-water bridges when they are flooded. Rather use alternative routes or call EMS to assist you," says EMS spokesperson Johan Pieterse.

Pieterse says there are also several floods in the Soshanguve, Mamelodi and Bronkhorstspruit areas.

"People must report emergencies immediately and try to stay away from the banks of rivers. Do not let children play near water if they cannot swim," says Pieterse.

Meanwhile, the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) has recorded 33 crashes since 6.00am.

JMPD spokesperson Edna Mamonyane says most of the crashes are single vehicle crashes.

"The drivers are not changing their behaviour. Just because you can drive 120km/h on the highway, it does not mean you should travel at 120km/h. The road surface is wet and it is very slippery. People are losing control and hitting barricades or spinning," says Mamonyane.
