Florida cash-in-transit heist leaves one dead
Updated | By Anastasi Mokgobu
One man has died and another one was injured in a cash-in-transit heist in the Florida area of Roodepoort.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring says the paramedics arrived at the corners of Hendrik Potgieter and Ontdekkers on Friday morning to find an armoured vehicle on the side of the road.
The rear of the vehicle had been blown open.
"On assessment, medics found that a security officer had sustained only minor soft tissue injuries. The man was treated and thereafter transported to a nearby hospital for further care," says Meiring.
On the 14th Avenue, the paramedics found a man lying inside a towing vehicle.
"Assessments showed that he had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his chest. Nothing could be done for him, and he was declared dead.”
