The discovery of a woman's body
has sparked widespread looting in Mhluzi, outside Middelburg.
Residents targeted foreign-owned shops on Wednesday evening, as they believe one of the owners is responsible for the woman’s death.
Mpumalanga police's Mtsholi Bhembe says a 26-year old man has since been arrested and charged with murder.
Mtsholi says the situation was calm, but still tense, on Thursday.
He says no other arrests have been made and no injuries have been reported.
Cases of public violence and destruction of property have been opened and the police are monitoring the situation.
