Foreign shop owners told to leave Klipfontein
Updated | By Gaopalelwe Phalaetsile
Foreign national spaza shop owners in Klipfontein View near Midrand have been warned to close their businesses and evacuate the area by Sunday.
The community has threatened to drive them out if the police do not escort them.
Community leaders held a meeting on Thursday night where the message was communicated to a group of foreign nationals who operate shops in the area.
This comes after a 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a foreign national.
The African National Congress (ANC) Branch Secretary in Klipfontein, Mncedi Qata says the foreign national shop owners must leave peacefully without violence.
"We have spoken to foreign nationals, and we have seemed to come to an agreement. So we have agreed to give them up to Sunday to pack their things safely with no violence," says Qata.
He adds Klipfontein is now closed to foreign nationals opening spaza shops in the area.

Community Member Lungile Mamabolo says the community has vowed no looting or violence will occur during the evacuation of foreign shop owners.
