Former Springbok’s father dies after weekend attack

The police in the Free State have confirmed that the father of Former Springbok hooker Lukas van Biljon has died following a house robbery.

The 70-year-old Andre Van Biljon succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
The family was attacked by six armed suspects over the weekend on a smallholding in Oranjeville.
During the robbery, the father sustained gunshots to his upper body.
Lukas van Biljon was stabbed with a knife while his children were tied up.
"I can confirm that the father died. The charge of attempted murder was changed to that of murder," says Police spokesperson, Loraine Earle.
On Monday, two suspects Khanye Muthi (32) and Latin Mofokeng (42) appeared in the Heilbron Magistrates Court.
Their case was postponed to 5 June 2023 for a formal bail application.
The other suspects are still at large.
