Two arrested for attack on former Springbok hooker, family

The police in the Free State have arrested two people following an attempted murder and house robbery at a farm in Oranjeville.
The armed robbery happened on Saturdday morning.
It is understood that six armed suspects stormed the house on a small holding and shot a 70-year-old man in the upper body during the robbery.
The man’s 47-year-old son, former Springbok hooker Lukas van Biljon, was stabbed with a knife.
Police spokesperson Loraine Earle says the children were also tied up.
"At about 00:30, the police were called to a small holding at Oranjeville, where the Van Biljon family is staying. Andre Van Biljon sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and hand. His son, Lukas van Biljon, was also attacked and the perpetrators stabbed him several times with a knife."
"The suspects fled with a Range Rover which was recovered in Oranjeville, other suspects fled in a Toyota Camry when they saw the blue lights of the police." Earle
"An activation plan involving surrounding police and farmers blocked off all roads and at a roadblock at Viljoensdrift the vehicle was stopped. The vehicle was also confiscated." she added
Earle says two of the suspects aged 32 and 42, were arrested at a roadblock in Viljoensdrift.
They are expected to appear in the Heilbron Magistrates Court on Monday on charges of house robbery and attempted murder.
