Fort Hare University protector killed in accident

Eastern Cape police have confirmed the death of a Fort Hare University protector who was killed in an accident on Sunday.

He said according to information, the deceased, who is described as a protector, was driving a Mercedez Benz from Bhisho direction towards Ginsburg with three passengers when his vehicle was hit on the driver's side by a bakkie.
“The driver died instantly at the scene on Cambridge Road in King Williams Town,” he said. The three passengers were rushed to hospital.
Kinana said the circumstances surrounding the accident are under investigation.
The name of the deceased has not yet been released.
In January, an attempted attack on the university's vice-chancellor and principle, Professor Sakhela Buhlungu, led to the death of one of his protectors, Mboneli Vesele.
