Four suspects have been arrested in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg, in connection with the kidnapping of a foreign national.
The four were arrested on Sunday during an operation led by the National-Anti-Kidnapping Task Team.
Two firearms, multiple cellphones and the vehicle, which was allegedly used during the kidnapping, were found in the possession of the suspects.
"It is reported that the victim was at his place of work in Boksburg on Saturday morning when five suspects stormed into the premises, held up security guards and forced the victim into their vehicle before driving off,” says police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda.
He says police pounced on a house in Vosloorus on Sunday evening and rescued the victim unharmed.
"The suspects are expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate's Court soon,” says Netshiunda.
The motive for the kidnapping is not yet known.
