Captain Paul Ramaloko said the four suspects [three females and a male] aged between 20 and 25, allegedly went to Boitumelo Dhlamini’s school and kidnapped her on Thursday.

“It is alleged that one of the female suspects had accused Dhlamini of dating her boyfriend,” he said .

Ramaloko said the accused allegedly took the girl to a secluded area where petrol was poured on her and set alight.

“The suspects then called the police to the scene claiming that the deceased was being attacked by unknown people,” he said.

Preliminary investigations at the crime scene indicated that the three, who were still at the scene, were apparently behind the murder, Ramaloko said.

“And they were subsequently arrested. Further investigations led the police to the fourth suspect who later handed himself over to police.”

The four were expected to appear on charges of murder and kidnapping in the Brits Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
