According to Hlanganani Forum Chairperson Harrison David Maphophe, Sanparks has so far compensated communities for less than 3000 livestock.

"Up to so far, compensation is there but it is done in a slow pace because we have lost more than 10 000 livestock. Only less than 3000 have so far been compensated," says Maphophe.

According to Maphophe, one livestock is equivalent to R5000.

Hlanganani Forum also believes that the compensation process is slow.

"Some people have died without receiving any compensation. So they ended up losing hope. Some expect to be compensated over a short while and it doesn't happen like that," says Maphophe.

Maphophe has also pleaded with government to help the Forum and Sanparks over the allegations of corruption.

"There are a lot of allegations that there are people who are claiming they have lost their livestock while they do not own any livestock and they are being compensated. So we plead to government to come and sort this issue out and help us with the process," he adds.
