Free State farm attack suspect found dead in police cells

A suspect arrested for killing a farm owner in the Free
State, has been found dead in police holding cells.

Free State police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, says the suspect was found hanging in the police cell in the early hours of Saturday morning.
It comes hours after the 47-year old suspect and three other suspects were arrested in the Phomolong township in connection with the murder in Henneman.
The 56-year old Swartpan farm owner was shot in his head on Thursday, while his 26-year old son was stabbed in his back.
The 26-year old son was rushed to hospital for treatment.
It has been reported the farm employee went in search of the victims after the deceased's wife raised her concerns regarding her inability to get a hold of her family telephonically.
Makhele says the other three suspects are expected to appear in the local Magistrates’ Court soon.

Her office released a statement, saying Tebogo Machakela was shot in the head by a group of assailants. "The death of Mr Tebogo Machakela is not only a great loss to his family and friends but to the agricultural sector as a whole, " says Didiza in the statement.
