Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Fugitive Rabbi Eliezer Berland, who is wanted by the Jewish state on a range of alleged sex offence involving minors, has been extradited to Israel.
Berland, who is the leader of a sect in Jerusalem, allegedly fled Israel in 2012 after allegations of sexual harassment were made against him by some of his female followers.
He was arrested earlier, after a car chase in Sandton.
The Department of Justice and Correctional Service's Mthunzi Mhaga confirmed that Berland was extradited Monday evening.
"Rabbi Berland was extradited last night at 11.00pm escorted by Interpol to Israel in relation to sexual related offences of minors dating back years ago," Mhaga said.
