FUL welcomes Jiba ruling
Updated | By MornéJK
The civil society group, Freedom Under Law, on Thursday welcomed the judgment in the High Court in Pretoria against senior NPA officials.

The court struck Deputy National Director of Public Prosecutions Nomgcobo Jiba and Commercial Crimes head Lawrence Mrwebi off the roll of advocates.
The court was highly critical of the way Jiba and Mrwebi handled political sensitive case, including those against suspended police intelligence head Richard Mdluli and KZN HAWKS boss, Johan Booysens.
In a statement Freedom Under Law says that the ruling demonstrates the courts' determined opposition to corruption in high places and vindicates FUL's decision some years ago to challenge the unlawful and ostensibly corrupt refusal to prosecute General Richard Mdluli.

"Our allegations have been upheld and the false attempts at refutation found to be untruthful," the statement read.
The organisation also expressed hope that President Jacob Zuma will act swiftly against Jiba and Mwerbi.
"We appeal to the National Director of Public Prosecutions to seize the opportunity to put an end to the actions that have tarnished the image of the institution he heads and done untold harm to the Rule of Law," Freedom Under Law concluded.
