FW de Klerk mourns death of son, Willem de Klerk

Willem de Klerk, the son of apartheid president FW de Klerk, has died at the age of 53.

The FW de Klerk Foundation confirmed the news on Wednesday.
Willem died on Tuesday night in Cape Town after a lengthy battle with cancer.
“It is with the deepest sadness that FW de Klerk announces that his son, Willem (53), died last night in Durbanville after a courageous battle against cancer,” the statement reads.
The statement adds: “The family will, in due course, make a further announcement regarding funeral arrangements.”

"I can't believe I'm having to write this, but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning," Wolf Van Halen wrote in a message on Twitter with a picture of the rocker who was 65. "He was the best father I could ever ask for," he added.
