‘FW de Klerk’s health not deteriorating’ - Foundation sets record straight amid hospitalisation reports
Updated | By Nokukhanya N Mntambo
The FW de Klerk Foundation has denied reports that the apartheid president’s health has deteriorated rapidly.

Earlier this year, De Klerk was diagnosed with Mesothelioma - a cancer that affects the lining of the lungs.
Several reports have surfaced claiming the former president had been hospitalised, citing a dire state of health.
But the foundations says there is no truth to these reports.
“There has been no discernible deterioration in his health since he was diagnosed in March
The 85-year-old is expected to start treatment soon.
“He is now considering the continuation of the course of immunotherapy that he has been following for the past two months.”
The foundation adds de Klerk is in good spirits.
“Mr De Klerk attended a meeting of the FW de Klerk Foundation Board yesterday - and comes into his office three or four times a week. He and his wife, Elita, hope to travel to Greece for a holiday as soon as Covid regulations permit,” the foundation says.
In October last year, his son Willem de Klerk died of cancer at the age of 53.
