Gauteng ANC to intensify its e-tolls campaign
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The African National Congress (ANC) in Gauteng will embark on a series of pickets in October as part of its campaign against e-tolls.
The decision was taken at the party's provincial executive committee (PEC) meeting at the weekend.
The party says its members will picket should there not be any tangible progress on the matter.
"Noting the developments, the PEC has committed to launch a public action to intensify the campaign against e-tolls using two pillars of continuous engagement with the national leadership of the ANC and government and embarking on the pickets during the transport month in October should there be no tangible progress on the matter,” says ANC spokesperson Bones Modise.
Government is expected to pronounce a way forward on the controversial user-pay system, after President Cyril Ramaphosa instructed Ministers Fikile Mbalula, Tito Mboweni and Gauteng Premier David Makhura to table proposals to Cabinet by the end of August.
