Gauteng ANC moves to replace Masuku
Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
The African National Congress (ANC) in Gauteng has asked Premier David Makhura to move to replace former Health MEC Bandile Masuku.

Makhura axed Masuku last week but said he would not replace him until investigations into Covid-19 irregularities in the department are complete.
Masuku, his wife Loyiso and presidential spokesperson Khusela Diko are being accused of corruption related to the procurement of personal protective equipment (PPE).
While the provincial ANC welcomed the decision by Makhura to discharge Masuku of his duties, it felt the department can't go on without an MEC during a Covid-19 pandemic.
Masuku and Diko will also face the provincial disciplinary committee, although the PEC is mum on the charges they are facing.

Loyiso Masuku, who is an MMC in the City of Johannesburg, is expected to return to work after the PEC announced there is no proof linking her to alleged corruption.
Provincial treasurer Parks Tau says Masuku and Diko have also been asked to step aside from all party activities.
“The PEC decided that comrade Bandile Masuku and comrade Khusela Diko should be referred to the provincial disciplinary committee of the ANC.
“In order to protect the integrity of the ANC and of the affected comrades, the PEC further decided that comrade Bandile and comrade Khusela should step aside from organisational activities pending the finalisation of the disciplinary process.
“Allegations against Loyiso Masuku in relation to her involvement in this regard could not be substantiated and the PEC decided she should resume her duties," He said.
The provincial deputy chair Panyaza Lesufi said Makhura will hold discussions on Monday to discuss Masuku's successor.
