Updated | By Eva Chipa
The Gauteng
Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation has refuted claims of
corruption levelled against MEC Mbali Hlope.
City Press is reporting that Hlophe has been accused of turning a blind eye to corruption playing out under her nose.
Her department allegedly ignored tender processes in the purchasing of mobile library trolleys last year.
According to the article the MEC was informed of the irregularity, but failed to act on it.
“We find the article quite surprising, perhaps even shocking, as to the misleading information contained in the article. I guess the department will excericse it’s right and options in terms of responding to the article as it is written in City Press,” says acting CFO Omphitlhetse Mafora
“There is no truth to the allegations of corruption, we have not had any allegation presented or formally presented to the departments either to myself as the acting CFO, or the current HOD.”
