Gauteng Education asks parents to wait one more weekend
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Gauteng Education hopes this is the last weekend of placing
grade 1 and 8s learners who applied to public schools for the 2019 academic
year.

Spokesperson for the department, Steve Mabona, says they are moving with "speed" to allocate spaces for the remaining leaners.
"You will understand that we come a long way. When you look at the applications that we received - over 282 000 and you can tell we have placed over 257 000," says Mabona.
The outstanding learners include about 20 000 applications who have not yet submitted the necessary documentation.
A further 700 learners who have handed in all the necessary papers, have to still be placed.
Mabona adds they aim to send out SMSes to all these parents from today to inform them of the schools their children will be attending.
