The Gauteng Department of Health says it online admissions system for grade 1 and 8 is making headway, with more than 233 000 applications recorded by Monday.
The system went live on Thursday.
Spokesperson Steve Mabona says more than 100 000 of these are for grade 1, while the other 132 000 are for grade 8.
“It is also encouraging again to see that over 30 000 parents have uploaded their documents online which is something good so because we’ve been saying parents must apply from the comfort of their own homes.”
Mabona adds that the department speedily resolved glitches experienced in the early stages of the process.
“Indeed, glitches regarding the OTPs and conformation of individual records by Department of Home Affairs were experienced and resolved within 30 minutes into the application period.”
Mabona says parents are reminded to upload documents on the system within seven days of making an application.
