Gauteng Finance MEC's private email account hacked
Updated | By Anastasi Mokgobu
The Gauteng Department of Finance and e-government says the private account email of MEC Nomantu Nkomo Ralehoko has been hacked.

Spokesperson for the MEC, Tshepo Shawa, says the MEC discovered this on Wednesday when all her colleagues in the Executive Council received an email purporting to be coming from her.
"This fake email that was circulated had attachments of password-protected documents about confidential Cabinet documents currently under discussion at the Gauteng Provincial Executive Council Lekgotla.
"MEC Nkomo-Ralehoko would like to reiterate that she did not send out any Cabinet or government information through a private email and she would further like to warn anyone who may receive this email, that they must not react nor respond to it," says Shawa.
Shawa says the incident was immediately reported to relevant authorities.
"The preliminary investigation discovered that this account is fake and was created some few days ago, but further investigation is underway,"
The MEC has also opened a criminal case with the police.
