The suspect is a local taxi operator.

The violence between two taxi associations interrupted the taxi service in Dube on Thursday and Friday.

No fatalities were reported.

“There have been reports of taxi violence since Thursday to early Friday in Soweto which resulted in both associations withdrawing their services from operating,” says Sibasa.

“No fatalities were reported, one taxi operator was arrested and more arrests expected. The situation is under control and law enforcement agencies including public transport intervention unit are monitoring the situation.”
