Police probe kidnapping of singer Tresor

Gauteng police are looking for an unknown number of suspects linked to the kidnapping of popular singer TRESOR.

The incident occurred on Thursday evening in Linden, north of Johannesburg.


In a statement released on social media, the singer claims he and another prominent artist were kidnapped and held hostage in the boot of their car.


The ordeal apparently lasted for several hours.

“We only got released at approximately 4am in a hostel area in Soweto,” says TRESOR.


“The perpetrators held us at gunpoint, handcuffed us and kept us in the boot for hours on end as they cleaned out our bank accounts.”


Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubela says the victims were robbed at gunpoint and their vehicle has been also been reported stolen.


“ A man came in and reported a case of hijacking that occurred last night at about 20:00, it is alleged that the man was on the road in Linden when he was approached and they hijacked his car and taken to an unknown place.


“He was left next to the hostel, which he said he does not know where the place was.”
