Gauteng records overwhelming majority of new Covid infections
Gauteng continues to record the overwhelming majority of the new Covid-19 cases.
In the 24 hours leading up to Monday, the province recorded 239 of the 312 new infections.
The increase represents a 2.3% positivity rate, according to the National Institute of Communicable Diseases.
Ten more people have died due to Covid-19 complications, bringing the total number of deaths to date to 89 584.
There was an increase of 37 hospital admissions in 24 hours.
A total of 2715 people are in hospital.
South Africa has fully vaccinated 13.9 million people and 24.6 million vaccines have been administered.
