Gauteng’s new top cop vows to serve with humility

Police Minister Bheki Cele has appointed Elias Mawela as Gauteng’s new police commissioner.
Cele made the announcement at the Mamelodi Police Station on Wednesday.
He was joined by Gauteng Premier David Makhura, National Police Commissioner Khehla Sithole and Safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane.
Cele says Mawela has vast experience in the police force.
“He was been with this organisation since 1984.”

Mawela has been serving as a Divisional Commissioner of Operational Response Services since 2011.
Mawela vowed to serve the residents of the province with humanity.
“I promise to be your loving servant unconditionally so.@
Mawela urged the residents of the province to work with the police.
