Glynnis Breytenbach in court
Updated | By Silindelo Masikane
Democratic Alliance, MP and former prosecutor Glynnis Breytenbach and her lawyer will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Monday.
Breytenbach and her lawyer are facing charges of obstruction and defeating ends of Justice relating to an investigation in 2012 in which Breytenbach was investigated for misconduct.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority, the two allegedly refused to hand over an official laptop to officials who were investigating them.
The NPA claims Breytenbach allegedly shredded relevant papers and wiped clean her laptop while she was still the head of the NPA's specialised commercial crimes unit.
The DA meanwhile believed the charges brought against Breytenbach were politically motivated.
The ANC has called for her immediate suspension pending the outcome of the court case.
